George W. Pfeiffer

George Pfeiffer earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in economics (cum laude) from Stanford University in 1977 and a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) in 1980 from McGeorge School of Law (University of the Pacific), George was admitted to the California State Bar in 1980. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California.

George began his practice of law with the firm of Lillick, McHose & Charles in San Francisco in 1980. In 1982, he joined the Walnut Creek firm of Gibbons, Stoddard, Lepper and Falco. In 1991, he formed Stoddard, Falco & Pfeiffer which later became Stoddard, Pfeiffer, Bergquist & Wood. In 2001, George started his own practice. George’s daughter, Laura Pfeiffer, joined his firm in 2010. George and Laura became law partners in 2016 when they formed Pfeiffer Law, LLP.

George’s practice previously included admiralty, real estate and public entity law. In the 1990s, he expanded his practice to family law, which has become the major emphasis of his practice. He still offers estate planning services to clients as well as limited civil litigation. The highlight of his civil litigation practice was as counsel for Defendants in a five-week jury trial in Southern California which resulted in a verdict for the defense.

George is a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association. He has served the Family Law Section of the County Bar Association in various capacities, most notably as editor of the In Chancery newsletter, and program chairman, as well as President, Vice President, and Secretary for the Family Law Section
